- I'm trying to create a radio cluster similar to the radio cluster in the print
- dialog which selects the from button when you click or type in the text field
- associated with the button. I created a large button with no title and placed
- 2 static text and 2 edit text fields in it. when i have another radio button
- selected and click in any area outside of the edit text fields (including on
- the static text) the corresponding radio button is selected. When I click in
- the edittext field however, the radio button is not selected. Is there a
- simple way to get the effect i'm after, or is this another case where MacApp is
- missing a capability that I would have assumed would be there. It is
- disappointing to find that common user interface features such as this are not
- already implemented in MacApp. I would like to see a version 2.1 or something
- that only addresses all of the standard macintosh user interface items not
- currently implelemted by MacApp2.0b9. A survey of MacApp.Tech$ members should
- uncover most of these remaining trouble spots. Here is a short list of things
- I know about.
-
- 1) Manipulating objects inside of a radio button field should automatically
- select the radio button. (described above)
-
- 2) If an EditText field is tall enough to hold multiple lines of text, the
- text should autowrap to the next line. This is a feature of the dialog manager
- that was lost when implementing the view archetecture. (I complained about
- this in b5 and am dissapointed to see it remains a problem in b9).
-
- 3) There should be a field in a TTextListView that allows a doubleclick on an
- item to dismiss a dialog. (I also complained about this in b5)
-
- 4) TextEdit should support all of the features described in the user interface
- guidelines of inside mac. (Someone else brought this up recently).
-
- In order for MacApp to fully live up to it's potential, common user interface
- items like this have to be impelmented. It's not enough for these kinds of
- things to just require a little programming. These are common enough to be
- standard capabilities. Please Apple, make this kind of stuff as easy as it
- should be. I guess when you have something as good as MacApp (or Macintosh),
- it tends to spoil you to expect it to be perfect.
